HyperRing uses NFC to make contactless payments, and only works when the ring is within 3cm of the POS terminal. Below are our recommended hand positions for getting the strongest signal from contactless terminals.
Note: not all tap-to-pay terminals are compatible. If none of the positions work, the terminal may simply not accept ring payments.
My ring worked before, why did it stop working?
If your HyperRing was working before and suddenly stopped:
- Check that your card is still connected in the app
- Make sure your card hasn’t expired or been paused
- Try a terminal that worked previously to rule out a terminal-specific issue
Still not working? Reach out to support (support@hyperring.co) and we’ll look into it.
Why won’t the terminal read my ring?
Start by trying all the hand positions in the guide above.
- Make sure you’re holding the ring within 3cm of the terminal
- Some terminals don’t support rings, even if they accept tap-to-pay
- Check that the terminal accepts your card type (Visa or Mastercard)
If none of the positions work at any terminal, it’s likely the terminal just doesn’t support ring payments - even if it accepts contactless cards or phones.
Could my ring be broken?
If your card is active, you’ve tried multiple terminals (including ones that worked before), and none of the positions connect, the ring may be damaged.
